Roof Rack Install

I bought a safari roof rack that mounts directly to the roof rails, not the crossbars. My question is how do I get the slides into the roof rail that the rack attaches to. Does one end of the roof rail open up?

At the front of the roof rack rails, above the front doors, there is a piece that pops out allowing the cross bars and tie down mounts to be removed.
