RE: rocker protection
Can you have factory splash guards and the GM/OEM rocker protection bars, or is it one or the other. I read somewhere???? (CRS)...that splash guards won't fit with the rocker protection package. Anybody got both?
Trey has the instructions, do they say anything about that Brud?

Yeah Doc the Rock Rails stop before reaching the wheel wells, so you can add the splash guards and/or fender flares to the H3. If your planning on going off road I would not recomend putting them on because Camou2 can tell you they will rip off. He has lost a mud flap on his new Aplha and his older 06 H3 he ripped off the fender flare and mud guard.

Thanks guys, I have the GM fronts only, haven't lost them yet??? If I was goin really hairy off road, I would probably take them off for the trip. I wacked one pretty good on a log I went over and figured I busted something, but when I got out to look, it was still ok. I was luck that time.

Well I made my decission and bought the Rocky's. If I would have bought the OEM I wouldn't have put the steps on, not a big fan of the look of those steps. Plus I happened to stumble across a deal I couldn't refuse, they were local and $100 cheaper than anywhere on-line. Plus never even mounted.

Does anyone know if the OEM bars can handle a high lift jack without bending? I like the idea that they arent connected to the body because there has to be some movement between the body and frame. If they were supposed to be connected there wouldn't be rubber bodymounts between the frame and body. I'm concerned however that the GM ones will bend if a high lift jack is used to lift the truck off ground in a tough spot, and that is one of the main uses of the jack.

They are strong enough for a jack, but I would be mighty careful with a Hi Lift, they like to get wobbly and the smooth bar of the rail would allow them to slip off to the side.
Using the tow rings is the safest way to go.

Thanks for the asnwer. You never know what you have to do for access when your stuck. I've had no problem on my 2" box tube rock rails on my ZJ, but the factory H3 rails don't have that same beef. I also hate to do much of a lift on the outer tube since it has so much leverage on the frame. I would always use the tow rings if possible but it's nice to know if the rails can support the entire weight of the truck.
