I had to have my factory monsoon subwoofer replaced about 8 months ago in the 3 and every now and then (actually it's just happened twice) I can hear are really loud road noise coming from the back of the vehicle, but I can turn it off and back on and it quits. Any idea other than a bad ground somewherethat would cause this?

 

[:@] Funny, I was going to put bad ground until you said "other than". Frankly, I don't think there would be another cause...if it ONLY comes from the sub. My meaning is that there could be a ground problem with the head unit but then you would have the sound from all speakers.

I would be interested in seeing what happened if you ran a ground to meet where the head-unit grounds...sometimes you have to do that when there is a problem like this one.

Thanks man, I might end up having to do that. Like I said, it's only done that 2 times in like 6-8 months, but it's so annoying when it does it.

 

Well, the noise came back today (still haven't gooten around to checking anything) and to my surprise it is actually coming from the passenger side rear door and not the subwoofer... I think I might just take it back to the dealer and see what they can do instead of fooling with it myself. Should be covered under warranty, but I'm afraid the noise won't come around while it's there and they'll just send me on my way as usual...
