Default Reset transmission light

Hello there,

I am posting for my roommate. He has a Hummer H3 and just had his transmission fluid changed, but now we can't get the service transmission light won't go away. Does anyone know how to reset it?

Was the "service transmission" message on before the fluid change? What prompted your roommate to have the transmission fluid changed?

Assuming nothing is wrong, you can reset with an OBD II scan tool. It plugs into the socket underneath the steering wheel, down by your shins. A cheap tool can be purchased for under $100 but hopefully a friend can let you borrow theirs for a few minutes. Before resetting the code(s), you might want to write the codes down and let us know. However, if there is a problem (e.g., transmission fluid temperature sensor), the service transmission should reappear until the problem is corrected and code(s) reset again.

Thanks mountainbiker and carcrazy.

carcrazy, is there another way to reset it, or the only way to do is what mountainbiker mentioned?
