RE: Update: Wrong part ordered - Please help

After hour's and day's of painstaking research, I finally found a PDF version of the 2007 Service Manual, and discovered that you have to replace the entire "Parking Brake Assembly". You apparently can't just buy the cable from the brake pedal down to the equalizer bar (piece under driver's side door where all three cable's come together).

The part number I found for the brake pedal assembly is: GM Part # 20832044. I've contacted several GM dealers, most of which keep the part in stock and averages around $61.88.

I'm picking mine up from the dealer this afternoon and plan on changing it out tonight. I'll post back, after I've made the repair and let you know if it's solved the problem.... Or if its back to the drawing board, and look at replacing the LH or RH cable and parking brake actuator....

I've converted the manual to .JPG's so that I can upload them here for you, and any other unfortunate victim of this problem.... Good Luck and Good times!

Default My car just broke down today

I know it is not right for me to start discussing an entirely different topic here, but could somebody help me start a new thread. I assumed it would be fairly simple... but I looked on this site for about 20 minutes and couldn't find anything.

My issue is pretty vague so far, but I will tell you what I know:
My wife was driving the H3 yesterday, and while going through town at about 20 mph it just stalled out. She said she just all of a sudden noticed that the car wasn't running anymore and then she pulled off the road. She tried re-starting it. The battery seems good. The engine turns over fine, just won't start. Sadly, I couldn't help her because I was unreachable at work. Once I found out 5 hours later, she had already paid to have it towed to a shop. I have not heard anything from the shop yet. They said they would call to talk to me before they made any repairs.

I just don't want to be raked over the coals on this one. Can anybody give me pointers on what things I should rule out first. (preferably the easier and more likely things first) I usually try to do a lot of work myself, but I now live quite a ways from home (and my brother's 3 car garage w/ car lift ). Should I be worried about issues with the head or head gasket?

I always take care of my vehicles, so this is a big bummer.

06 H3 ~55k miles
5-cyl 3.5L
Automatic
Adventure / Luxury package (all options available)
everything is stock including the 33" tires (285 65 16)

I don't live near a Hummer dealer. I am in Delta, PA 17314. But I would assume the H3 shouldn't be too tricky considering it is just a blinged out Colorado.

So pointers on what to start checking if the mechanic gets stumped or wants a ton of money?
and pointers on starting a new post are welcome...

-go to the section you want to post a new thread in (ex. Hummer H3).
-Directly under " H3 Frequently Asked Questions" you will see "New Thread"
-click "New Thread" and start typing.

Thanks for the info. I started my own post for this:
https://www.hummerforums.com/forum/h...55/#post277643

And as for the Colorado reference, I removed it from my new post, based on your recommendation. I was trying to be a bit humorous... obviously there are distinct differences. However, correct me if I am wrong, but the 5 cyl motor and the frame are almost identical to a Colorado. That is why I was saying it shouldn't be much harder to work on than a Colorado. Not that I have ever worked on one, but I know local mechanics that will work on them. I just bought this vehicle last year, and one of my main supporting arguments for buying a vehicle from a lineup that is no longer made was that a lot of parts are common to Colorado's which chould be supported by GM into the unforeseeable future. Sorry if I stepped on some H3 lover's toes . I love my H3 as well, besides this recent issue.

Frames are very different and not interchangeable. Although it is true that the original H3 concept truck was a Chevy with a Z71 off road package, less then 5% of that truck remained after the engineers broke and upgraded everything. Most of the 5% is in the 2006 3.5 engine.

The frame is just the tip of the iceburg of the differences between the H3 and Canyon/Colorado. They share a little over 5% of total parts. They actually have more in common with a 1500 due to the use of 1/2 ton rated parts.
