Just had my 07's Transfer case & Transmission rebuilt last week. Earlier today, I decided to throw it into 4wd to make sure it works, 4wd high locked seemed to engage, and work, however 4wd low would appear to be locked in, but will not move? Any ideas on where to start? Obviously its going back to him, but what would cause this?

Ouch that sounds costly. How many miles did you have on it? I've always felt like something was wrong with my 4 low. i actually took a video recently to record the whine it makes in 4 low. 4hi, 4hi lock work perfectly and all the gears shift with no issue but 4 low just doesn't seem right to me. you step on the gas and the rpms go up, the whining noise gets louder but it seems like the wheels barely move. I just remember when i would drop my jeep cherokee sport into 4 low it seemed like it would idle up the hill by itself. i figured my h3 adventure would be way more torquey in 4 low. In this vid i am just putting around and you can hear the whine in the background. Does yours sound the same? (ignore the check engine light, it's a bad thermostat).

 

Lots of stuff rlated to the shift motor/shaft/forks assembly.
If it actually goes to hi lock and not lo lock,its in the hi/lo planetary section,since the lock mode works,so you say.

The lock/unlock, and the hi/lo are 2 separate planetary assembles,2 forks, one motor and shaft,cam drive. Kinda messy.

If it doesnt move,is it frozen,or like in neutral,engine revs and goes nowhere? Funny thing is,that should be either hi OR lo,,,not "neutral" unless a gear is broke,not likely.
I would slowly exercize it some more. OH,it does have grease right?
