2006 H3 - 89,000 miles.

Ive searched and cannot seem to find this particular issue. My rear wiper leaks fluid from the nozzle when parked on an incline. When backed in, say my driveway, it doesn't leak nor on a level surface. Now this issue only seems to happen if i use my rear wiper on a drive home, it leaks for a few hours ... or all night ... not sure which ... but eventually stops if i dont use my washers. I just started noticing this, and now my purple driveway, about a month ago.

Checked the hoses and they seem to fine, also made sure the reservoir cap was tight (still think this may be the culprit) seemed fine. Anyone have any thoughts? Or recipes for washer fluid that doesnt freeze as i have gone three gallons now in a month.

 

Get a anti drain valve. Something like this....

Ill check out that drain valve, self made cleaner seems like a disaster for paint, but im sure its pretty close to what we actually use.

 

When I first got my H3 that was the first problem I had to solve. It wound up being the semi rigid plastic tubing that supplies the fluid to the rear wiper. Right where it goes through the rubber/plastic boot from the body to the back door it became pinched over time and would leak fluid when parked facing uphill. It was only cracked so when I used my rear washer enough fluid went through the tubing that it worked.
The fix was:
1. Remove the screws on the rubber/plastic boot, look inside the door/body and find the break in the tubing.
2. Make a clean cut all the way through and remove any damaged tubing.
3. Join the tubing back together with about a 3" piece of rubber hose. I used the proper size hose where the tubing fit nice and snug inside the tubing.
4. Reinstall the rubber/plastic boot
Now it has a nice flex joint where door opens and closes, like it probably should have had in the first place.

 

Ill be checking this out this weekend. From visual inspection it looks fine but who knows what behind the curtain. This sounds like a good fix to do regardless. Thanks for the response and a solution!
