i dropped skid plates for coming oil change and inspection. i noticed a pipe i saw b4 and forgot about. i dont think my lux h3 07 had it?
its just behind the bumper,just above the front plate,the width of the frame,and mounted with the bumper /d ring bolts. it has stamped metal plates welded to it that go up between the frame and bumper,and they flex. it just hangs there and it would bend up if i pushed it and bang on the frame. i assume it could vibrate and rattle so i put a piece of small rubber hose betweem it and frame as i pulled it down.

im guessing its a support for the skid plate if it gets a good hit?? but i dont know and i see no other use for it.
when i pulled down and let go it sprung up and hit the frame,hence the rubber cushion,,,jfwiw

 

I believe it is called a crash bar.... or something like that. It was added to 08+ to meet some collision safety requirements. So you are correct, your 07 did not have one.

All the guys that have BA Bumpers to 08+ 3s and 3Ts had to remove it to install them. That's where most of us became aware of that change.
