38's are a big heavy tire have you lifted one? i would say that would be hard on your ride i have a suburban with 37.5 mickeys and i have gone through a couple steering boxes and pumps and stabilizer shocks. if you do go with the 38 get the lightest rim you can find without taking away from the strength.

I would make them verify it will fit. Some of the bumpers that fit the 06/07 don't fit the 08 Alpha.

There were changes made to the frame for 08 to accommodate the V8. It may not be a smooth install.

It may be worth checking with a parts department to find out what other front endparts were changed for 08.

going over a 35 with any amount of lift is not a good idea...the halfshafts and cv joints will not hold up turning 38's. And just cause the alpha has a v8 doesn't mean you have the power....the v8 in the alpha is a small 8 and not the most amazing as far asthe #'s it's putting out. I was running 39's in my dodge and was pushing over 370 hp and it was sluggish...even with gears!

Agree with IMPY. The H3 won't be able to last long with 38's, that's big pick-up truck stuff not little SUV tires. You'll definately have to drop the front punkin to keep your half shafts from destroying themselves but IMO the drive line is too mid sized SUV to hold up to big rubber.
If the H3 had a solid front axle then it would probably do just fine but the soccer Mom's wouldn't buy it because it rode too rough. Funny how they compromise tuff for fluff when it comes to 4x4's now days. Even the Jeep has sold out to softie crowd.
