Default RADIO SWAP

New to the forums and I must say there is a lot of info here. I am on my second H3, I have an 08 we just picked up Sat. It has a stock radio thats all. I can get my hands on a 06 H3
with a xm,cd,radio. My question is this will this unit plug and play or is there something else I need install in mine from the other H3?? Thanks Paul

I am no radio expert, not even close. I did a little research on this a while ago. If you are talking about the 6CD changer "Monsoon" radio, you will have some obsticles.

As I understand it, the 6CD changer is a low out put radio...like 4 watts, because it has the Monsoon amp and sub, which boost the radio output to the speakers. The base radio has...I do not remember the exact watts...but I believe like 40-50 watts output. So, if you do plug and play the 6CD radio, you will have it cranked and not get much from your speakers.
Do some searches on this...you will see what I am babbling about. At a minimum, you would also need an amp. Probably better to go aftermarket and get a powered head unit that does what you want??? That was my humble conclusion.

I would think the wiring harness would in place. I have the H3X Monsoon set up. I'm not sure if there is a separate amp. You should buy the OEM Helm's service manuals. It's a good investment. All the schmatics are there.

Thanks for the information. The more I think of it I was going to install an adapter for the ipod,
so I dont really need a 6 dics changer.

I did the ipod adapter, works great with my base radio. Easy to follow instructions from Integration Solutions.

Emailed you back.

I have never seen a chrome cover on a navigation system before, so I would have to say no.

I have the H3X and that's the reason for the chrome I bet.
