Hi all from the UK, It’s my first post on here so please be gentle with me.

I’m at the point of changing my current 4x4 and am exploring my options, my favorite one of which is a bit left field for here in the UK, an H2 SUT. I have to admit the choice is more about the big V8 and that I like the look of them than anything else, and I want something a bit different to what’s available to me here as a more normal choice. Trouble is I have a few questions so please excuse the length of this post.

As they are few and far between here I’m probably going to end up importing one myself, but I’m trying to get a test drive and a crawl all over one before committing. I travel to the US on business sometimes so will probably do this whilst I’m there next.

The big one is towing. The limited information I can find suggests that all H2s are only rated to tow 2800kgs, which I find really surprising. My boat weighs just over 3(metric)tns on it’s trailer fueled up, most of the more usual larger 4x4s here are rated at 3500kgs including my current Mitsubishi Shogun(3.2TD), is the information I’ve found correct? If it is then an H2 is a non starter for me as I do need to run legally.

The H2 would be my daily driver, which is a big thing here to consider with a large vehicle, is there anyone else on here using one daily in the UK for all the usual family activities? My Shogun is only slightly smaller, but can at times be a pain to park as our car parking spaces are so much smaller. I’d appreciate any experienced comments from anyone running one in the UK.

The Left Hand Drive bit is a little awkward sometimes, but there are plenty of people running left hookers in the UK so I can live with that.

To consider running anything big daily in the UK that’s not a diesel I really have to convert to LPG, what are the options?
I don’t want to loose any cargo space, so are there tanks available that fit under the vehicle? If not specific ones then I could probably adapt some torpedo shaped ones that I know are available to fit under a Toyota 100 series Landcruiser.


If I go with an H2, I won’t be able to leave it standard for too long, as I do like to have a play. Can anyone suggest websites with accessories etc? I’ll be looking at overland type stuff rather than axle twisting off road gear.

One last question, is it right the bulkhead between the truck bed and the passenger compartment can be removed on an H2 SUT?
