question about tow hooks

I don't believe that the OEM brushguards have the upper braces.
Most of the better quality aftermarket ones do.

Mine is a Steelcraft and one of the braces are circled below. My brushguard is rock solid.

With body on frame trucks, I don't like the idea of the upper braces because when the frame twists, they will transmit the stress to the body.

The braces are just thin sheet metal. They will bend or flex far sooner than any body flex. They are there to eliminate vibration of the brushguard.
