Quality upgraded boot on CV axle
 

There's been lots of discussion in the past, has anyone found replacement axles complete with the upgraded boot?

No advice as to the best place to buy replacement CV axle?

Post 2008 H3 ACDelco shafts..... best you are gonna do. Ebay, rock auto, etc....

The H3 and H3T Base, Alpha and X all use the same axle.

Did you go with the Cardone 66-1417? I ordered them and they were too long and had different splines. JC Whitney said they have had several returned.

DTA offers the GM-2580 and have confirmed the length with me so I'm waiting for them to arrive.

The GM OEM Part Number is AC Delco 25859867.

Detroit Axle has a shaft but it refers to an 8 lug wheel.

Completely untrue statement above.

The introduction of the H3 Alpha line in 08 changed the half shaft length (longer in 08-10) and shaft girth (thicker 08-10). So if you buy a remanufactured 06-07 half shaft it will be slightly shorter than the 08-10 shafts. Buy the OEM 15886012 from Ebay, Rockauto.com and others while they last and have YOUR half shafts rebuilt after the supplies dry up. that will be the only way to insure you are getting the longer and beefier half shafts.

So, apparently my problem was that I needed to order an 07 shaft... Problem is EVERYBODY offers the same part number 2006 -2010! The GM OEM AC Delco P/N is 15886012 for 2006-2010... so, exactly HOW is that a completely untrue statement? Seriously do you have another P/N for this item that isn't published or do they just send a different shaft when you order it under the OEM Part Number but you tell them it's for a Alpha?

I may not post much to this site but I have worked as a mechanic and test pilot for many years and know something about inventory and parts research... I have been very thankful for information I have gotten off here but to come out saying someone is making " completely untrue" statement without backing it up is just wrong.

So show me the part number for a 2008-2010 that is different that what is for a 2006 - 2008 and I'll shut up.

I know, never trust the guys who have R&R'd 15+ shafts (some cheap parts store, some ebay, and mostly OEM) in a garage and on the trail that are trying to save your time and headaches. Trust some car parts website that is trying to sell you something.

Check out your other post on the same subject and you will see the photo DocOlds posted. You will see the difference in length and shaft girth.

You say you know parts, then you know that some of the parts you listed ARE in fact remanufactured shafts not new. Those remanufactured units can be an outer from an 06-07 and the shaft from an 06-07 and the inner from an 08-10 or any combination in between. The part # did change at least twice 15886012; 15905106. The 15886013 supersedes the previous part due to GM not wanting the expense of having 2 similar parts on the shelf when 1 will fit and service ALL GMT345 HUMMER H3 & H3T applications.

The thing here is not all of us extreme offroad enthusiasts and don't need to go to super upgrades. Secondly what guarantee do you have that the OEM parts aren't Chinese made or contain Chinese (or who know's where?) made parts? After all they had made a bid to take over production so how machining had they already done before pulling the plug?

Finally, the change in the part numbers because they didn't want the expense of having 2 similar parts when 1 will fit... It doesn't matter when your Hummer was made, whether it was a Base, an Alpha or an X or a He or H3T.... there is only ONE part number available NOW and they are all interchangeable. So, no my statement was not untrue...

I really appreciate this forum for the info it has provided me in diagnosing and making repairs but some members go the luxury route, some go the extreme offroad and some of us are somewhere in the middle... So a $700 part might be extreme for some of our needs while a differential crossmember bushing kit without having to change out the crossmember itself is a doable and cost savings project.
