I started installing the Putco Smoke LED roof lights last night and I noticed that now my check engine light is on. I assume this is because the LED's don't draw the same amp's and is triggering this. Has anyone else installed these and what did you do to fix this?

 

I've had the Putco lights for about two years now and haven't had any problems with the check engine light coming on with them.

 

Same here. I installed them about a month ago and never saw the light come on.

Check to see if the previous owner made some custom electrical work somewhere that is conflicting with your lights..very strange.

 

I really can't imagine what the electrical system would have to do with the check engine light unless you tapped into a random wire in the harness. I'd give it a 99% chance that its totally unrelated to the light bar.

 

It was on for about a day and then went off. I had assumed it was because the computer assumed there was a burned out light since the LED's draw so much less power.

 

It must have been a coincedence. How do you like the Putco lights? I have the LED interior kit and I love it.

 

Where did you get the LED interior kit? Does that come with lights for front, middle, rear end as well as doors?

 

I got mine from a wholesale automotive place that went out of business last year. The kit came with the front and rear and middle as well as the map lights. The doors were not included but I bought LED 194 replacement bulbs from Wixtech. The Putco lights are 18x brighter and put out a really bright white light. I think Putco warrantees them for life. They are expensive but worth it.
