Default Proportional differentials?

Yes i am a noob H1 OWNER but im not cherry to HMMWVs. I have been driving them for over 10 years now. anyways, i was not aware of these proportional differntials that i have read about. I understand you apply gas, then ease onto the brakes until the diff locks in?!?!? is this true? i havent been able to try it out on my H1 yet. I bought it over the internet while I have been here in Iraq. I was home for 15 days with it in April. Then left to come back. tryin to gather all the little insider knowledge i can before me and the family head to the Smokey mountains in september.

I'm pretty sure they might have been reffering to a method? The throttle brake modulation or something like that.

Its where you give it gas while riding the brake to slow down a fast-turning wheel to deliver the torque to the other wheels.

What unit you with? 1/82d 2/504 parachute infantry regiment here. I'm back home in NY now though.

The technique, BTM, or brake throttle modulation will essentially work like having lockers. You apply 100% brakes and slowly bring your rpms up to 15-1700 rpms. You will feel the power starting to defeat the brakes. Very slightly release just enough brake pressure to allow the truck to crawl foward. For non-lockered trucks technique works very well. I don't have lockers in my trail truck and that is how I crawl over ledges, rocks, etc. It is very easy to learn and most people master the technique very quickly.

Im with C co 2-504. I was in D co for about 4 years. Got drill school in January, then PCS to benning for 2-3 years of no deployments. its about time. after just over 50 months deployed its time for a break, more for the family then me.

Anyways, all the information you guys gave was exactly what i thouhgt was going on. I have had 4x4 trucks in the past and have heard of this. thanks again

Hell ya thats awesome. Those 2/504 and 319 guys are some bad motherf*ckers.

I would have loved to go to drill school, but medical issues arose so thats the end of that.

Benning is a sh*thole, but drills over there are no joke.

I fell ya though, 82d is always on the prowl and deploying. Were you at the last jfex before 1bgd redeployed? It was last aug. I think.

Anbar is all quiet now. Every now and then there is an IED, sometimes a VBIED. But this has been a boring year. I was in Ramadi and Fallujah most of the year. Im in Al Asad right now waiting for a flight home. Thank god. This deployment really wore me down....just from not doing anything.
