Default Pressure - Not.... Update

Had my H3 serviced today at Sewell Hummer in Dallas. Paid for synthetic oil & a filter, front differential service, and a 24 point inspection. Drove home with one stop along the way. This evening I got in to it run an error and hey - No oil pressure. Checked the dipstick and found a trace, but there sure is plenty of oil spray from the engine on back and a small drip puddle underneath.

Here's the kicker, You see I have to be in another city in the morning by 10 am. I called the dealership this evening and someone answered the phone, but they could not help - I was told "Service is closed, go rent a car". Pleaded my case on deaf ears... I was toldto "deal with it on Monday".

Anyway if you're read this far, thanks for letting me vent...

I called Sewell this morning and spoke to the service manager. No one had given him the message regarding my problem. He took charge, had a key made, and got my H3 back to the dealership this morning. (I was in Houston). He made everything made sure everything was right including cleaning the underside andpicked me up at Hertz (they are going to pay for the rental). Issues resolved beyond my expectations. Thanks Sewell.

That is total bullsh!it!!!!...They more than likely didn't tighten the oil filter up..

I hate to say it..But this is just one more reason a person if physically able, should change their own damnoil..there is nothing to it, if you have some basic mechanical skills and a 13 MM socket wrench and oil filter band wrench....Bottom line..If the engine is damaged, they bought you a new engine..PERIOD!

Man, I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune.

That is not Sewell's normal MO.

I bought from them as well, so I'm extremely interested in how this thread plays out. Please keep us updated.

The worst I've experienced with Sewell, coincidentaly, was that they forgot to do an oil change for me as requested..........[:@]

Once informed, they went out of their way to make sure I got what I needed, at my convienance.

I haven't looked, but what would Hummer Roadside Assistance have done for you in a case like this? (If anything)

If necessary, I'll swing by and help you push itinto the street so you can qualify for a free roadside tow.......

Also, if you don't mind me asking, what did they charge you for the synth....?

Bummer...I worked at a Jiffy Lube outta high school and my stoner co-workers left filters and plugs loose all the time, or they would forget to put on the oil cap...messy! I was even sent to peoples houses to clean up the oil spill in their drive way after all the oil leaked out. It happens.

Keep us posted.

If it was mine I would be most interested in what damage might have been cause by driving it without oil. That the incident is noted in my service records, whose fault it was, and what extended coverage would be offered for future engine damage that may not be noticed now but may occur the day after your warrantee runs out.

Did thewarining light ever come on in the dash display? Without an oil pressure guage, a lot is riding on those stinking idiot lights. My last truck blew the remote oil filter line, twice (the first time it was the oil out line, second was the oil in line) about a year apart. Defective Mfg of the line crimp by GMC supplier. I know what kind of mess you had. Shut off immediately both times and no engine damage. Glad to hear all is now good! Keep the rubber side down.
