Default Prairie Fire today!!

We are all OK, but had a very close call today. Theowners two houses up, decided to cook on their grill today. They started a prairie fire that nearly burned my home down. Don't know how much damage yet, but so far: lost a barn, brush hog mower, new Husky riding mower burned, front end of my Polaris Ranger, new pool fence, bee boxes etc. Out buildings damaged. I lost the hair on my hand and arm moving the Ranger. (Very minor). Fireman cut his hand and I did first aid. The fire burned all the way to our house in the pool area and singed the garage wall. If it had stayed 5 or 10 minutes more, we would have lost the house. Neighbors had 2 goats that were burned badly.Next door peoplebanged on our door and told us of the fire. I hadmy wifegrab the Maltese and move her Jeep to across the road. I went back in and got Rollei the African Gray and two violas. Moved the Ranger and the Hummer. Many many neighbors came and helped with garden hoses until 3 different fire departments came. Hero's all of them! The fire burnedover 200acres behind my house. Mr barbecue admitted to the sheriff and fire departments he had started it. We are OK but Smokey. The Hummer needs to be washed! jh

We had the same thing happen to our country place in Chilton, Texas. Fire burned right up to the house. Wife moved the horses while the nieghbors and a couple of volunteer fire depts. helped fight the fire. It burned several hundred acres but the house and barn were ok. If it weren't for the nieghbors we would have lost it all. Glad eveyone is ok and the most important things were not harmed. Also hoped Mr. BBQ had some insurance.

Has your urge to strangle your neighbor passed yet?

Then his home owner's insurance company can pay for your property loss, since he admitted he started it.

I'm sorry to hear that. At least you two are ok. How did it start? You have to be pretty careless with a grill to start a fire like that.

lol. It has. He is an old man who have two looser adult"kids" that still live at home. I wouldn't be surprised if they were involved, and he just coverd it up. Don't know how you cook 200 acres by grilling steaks!
