Cool power demand

alright im having a issue

my h3 has a huge peak power demand of about 250Amps and i need to find a HO alternator that can get me somewhere close to that number. i can run a secondary battery to the audio system.
but im really going for something around 200 amp at idle.

has anybody had any luck finding decent alternators that can provide this power with out killing my wallet?

Default whatt?

your amplifier must be two thousand four hundred watts rms,2400 rms watts.
how many minutes do you run it at full power using 200 amps?
the stock alt will deliver 70 amps into an extra load with all accs running.
your spare batt should deliver 100-150 amps for a while. how long do you need the extra power?
if its not hours, a good spare batt is easier/cheaper than swapping the alt.

There are several companies that make 250A alts for h3's.

several I've seen under $300.

Def. get a second battery & invest in at least a 10 Farad cap.

As far as more amps @ idle, put a smaller pulley on the Alt. I've been doing this for 20 years without a single alt issue from the smaller pulley and I currently have a small pulley on my H3. I have a small stereo & a Big Winch.

Hey would you mind making a thread on step-by-step to upgrade the factory power and negative wires?
