3K interval oil changes is way OUT DATED! Like 20 years +. Oil companies like guys like you.

Lubrication technology has advanced, and engine tolerances have advanced substantially. The GM Oil Life Monitor System is based upon conventional motor oil. Trust the technology, it works. Usually sends the CHG OIL message to the DIC between 6 and 9K miles for me.

You can use Dino oil w/o problem. I would not use Fram filters. Research it a bit and you can decide for yourself.
