PIX from the Mounds on 3-1-09
Hey guys, great turn out and at least the sun was out! We got a total of 10 rigs out today and it only got up to a whopping 21 degrees! 8) I had a great time and I hope we can get together and wheel a lot more this spring!
I didn't get a ton of pix between the broken half shaft, blown tire seal, grillin' dogs and it being azz cold out. Here is what I got, working on editing some video together.
Start off with before shots:
Rick G.

CB Photo

theBroken

I can't remember his name (nice guy and it was a stick!)

Doc Olds

MUTAINT

Half-Shaft:winkie: (Dosmangos)

More Pix:
Before we even left the parking lot theBroken had a Broken azz winch. Rick G. had a quick fix and we are off.

Heading out to the area where the "incident" happened

It was COLD! I know it's a PINK camera, but it takes pix and is my wifes.

No photos of the actual "incident" but here is the broken half shaft. Lesson learned: 1. DON'T listen to Rick G about turning hard while breaking and gassing at the same time. 2. LET Rick G. help fix your broken stuff!

More half shaft (CB Photo and Rick in the background)

How many guys does it take to fix a broken half shaft? 3 to remove the old shaft (CB Photo, Rick G. and Half-Shaft), one to step on the brakes (Doc Olds), 1 to get the boot back on the upper ball joint with a zip tie(MUTAINT), 1 to stand on top of the brake rotor to seat the lower ball joint (theBroken) and an off duty GM mechanic to tell us what we are doing wrong (buddy of theBroken) the rest helped with tools and sarcasm!

And the winner is HALF-SHAFT (Dosmangos), he was a pretty good sport for his first time out and breaking within 10 minutes of hitting the trail!

Will showed up and......well that's what the video will show

Will brought a relative of Rick G. in Ricks old H1 on 40s! OOPS, blew the bead. Will installed his spare (H2) on the H1, not a parfect fit but it got him home.

more to come.................

After the "incident" it was time for some hot dogs, brats and munchies. Yeah, I got stuck (high centered in a mud hole) while bringing the hot dogs. Lesson learned: DON'T follow Will (giant H2 on 39s) thru a mud hole! But thanks to theBrokens now working winch I was out in no time and cooking dogs!
Group shot:

Another Group shot:

Another Group shot: the good one!

Another Group shot: the bad angle one! But you can see Rick G. stuck on his favorite rock pile, aaaaaagain!

After "lunch" we hit the 3 "rock gardens" then split up into groups and attacked other areas. Will, Rick G, CB Photo and Ricks relative waited for Rick G. to conquor the big rock mound from last time out: Photo is from the last time out:

theBroken, Half-Shaft, Doc Olds and I went exploring other trails. I have video of this but few pix:
Open scramble area, good off camber stuff to check out your flex.

Hill climb Doc Olds: theBroken made him do it!

Hill climb Half-Shaft (Dosmangos): MUTAINT made him do it!

After that back to the parking lot and off to the quarter car wash. Yeah, if you had 2000 quarters it might have helped with the frozen mud-cycles. To Quote Doc Olds: "I also gotta say, that was a wierd frozen mud slurry mix. It would fling up on/under your truck, then freeze into like a mud concrete mix. A few of us had our back doors glued shut by that stuff. Gotta love frozen mud."
Yep, MUD-CYCLES, frozen solid mud. It was kinda sharp too

theBroken

Then we each went on our way home.
GREAT TRIP! Thanks to everyone who showed up! I hope all had a great time and want to do this again REAL SOON.
I hope some other guys will add their PIX and VIDS.
My video is in the editing process right now may take a couple of days.

We went out a week ago and had a lady break her half shaft. Did ya'll have a spare to fix it on the trail? We left ours in Houston about 3 hours away so I towed her home. She is back on the road now and wants to go and play again.
