I am looking to put in a overhead console to place a row of rocker switches on. I don't want to drill into or cut chit off so that left me with not many options. I finally decided on removing the sun visor and replacing it with a custom made console. I'm 6'5 so my line of sight prohibits use of the visor. The only thing I'm worried about is the factory homelink garage door opener. Is that connected via a wire harness or is it hard wired in? Also is it just powered or is it connected to a module elsewhere? Thanks guys.

Most of the HomeLink systems iv seen are a all in 1 unit. Iv taken one out of a sun visor of a ford and it was self contained all it needed was power. The one i just installed in my hummer was also self contained, only needed power. You should be able to move it very easy. Is your HomeLink in your visor? Would love to see pic when your done.

Got the new one installed. The dome light is ok, but i really put this one in to add HomeLink. I love how this is all in one now. The big thing that iv learned in choosing the overhead console, it 8.25 inch wide is all you really want to do. Past 8.25 inch you start getting into the curve of the headliner.
