Brian,
Love the the new Deuce. Also, really enjoyed your great pics! Definitely a gem! How many miles were on the 08 when you purchased it? I bought mine last april w/just 8K miles. (2nd '08 H2) |

(2nd '08 H2) Mine had 40,488 miles. Very nice finding one with 8k miles ... I bet it was pricey! There was an Ultra Marine on Ebay with 5k miles when I bought mine ... they were asking $59,900! Way, way more than I was willing to pay. I would have liked to have an '09 with the additional extras and the second row captains chairs, but I really wanted the Ultra Marine Edition and the '09's were quite a bit more expensive. |
I don't know how the earlier H2's drove as I've only owned 2 08's (H2)
the most recent purchase...I stuck w/the 08 vs the 09 because i really like the 2nd row bench vs. the captain chairs....have 3 boys. the other diff. is 09's had the bluetooth + flexfuel capability. anyways, i plan on keeping it for a while...it's like driving a car for free....they aren't depreciating like all the other cars. just love driving it. |

The captains chairs was an option in '09 and most of the '09's I see have the second row bench seat. Also, don't forget the electric tilt and heated steering wheel as '09 differences. From what I have seen, you are right .... they don't seem to depreciate like other vehicles. I drove my '05 SUT for 12 months, put 10,000 miles on it and got $1,000 less than I paid for. |
the electric tilt was very limited to the special editions...and even the special editions all didn't have that option.
cool option ...but really not necessary. |
Nice...congrats!
|
god I love the interior on the newer ones. mines an 03' with that ****ty old school trim.

.... when I started looking at '08/09's, I soooo wanted the new interior and I started looking at Denali trucks. All the low mileage ones were in the mid & high-30's. For a few grand more, I could have the "new" H2 and, after driving one, I had to have one ... sold the '05 and the search began. I looked at every ad in the Country at the time ... considered many, but really wanted the Ultra Marine Edition. There were literally only seven for sale in the Country and most had issues ... way over priced, high mileage, or bad CarFax/AutoCheck. |
Brian,
Just to let you know... the power tilt function was available in a few 09's other than the limited editions... for example: Cars for Sale: 2009 HUMMER H2 Luxury in Orlando, FL 32822: Sport Utility Details - 338200348 - AutoTrader.com just to share. |
Congratulations! Very cool colour! You're going to love the '08!
I agree about the tires, but I bet for the pavement, they can't be beat! |

I agree about the tires, but I bet for the pavement, they can't be beat! You are right, on pavement the Goodyear SRA's are pretty smooth. I am on no hurry to drop $2,000 on a set of five 325 Grapplers ... ! |
Both H2 are nice but I really like the 08! Congrats!

I have a 2008 H2 that needed a touch up. I was told that the color was Bermuda Blue, paint code #WA214M. It is a chameleon color that looks blue or green or teal or black depending on the light source and surrounding area. Is this the same color as the Ultra Marine that you are talking about? Do you know the paint code for the Ultra Marine color? Thanks.

Ultra Marine is the name of the edition .... "Ultra Marine Edition". It does not refer to the name of the color. The same color was used on some Tahoes and Avalanches as well. When I had my chrome hood grill "wells" painted body color, I took the body-colored side vents to him to color match with his fancy computer in lieu of using the paint code .... the match was perfect. I am curious, what type of touchup are you doing? |
Hi Brian SF-GA, thanks for clearing up my paint question. I thought that "Ultra Marine" was another color. So, I could have an Ultra Marine Edition H2 painted Bermuda Blue. Interesting.
Regarding your question, I bought this H2 used and it looked like the previous owner tried to pull it under a loading dock, hood first. The hood was badly scratched. The shop I used pulled the hood, repaired the scratches, many deep enough to gouge the metal and then paint it. Now no one could tell that I had any damage on it. This was a really good job. |

It sounds like they matched the paint pretty well and also know that the hood is fiberglass (or some other type of plastic), not metal. By the way, I noticed your signature ... '13 ZR1 Camaro 'Vert ... pretty awesome. Are you a member of LS1Tech.com? If so look me up, I use the same member name as here. I had been building a 500rwhp/500rwt SS for the last two years. I sold it a few months ago to get a Street Glide .... check it out, you may can appreciate it. |
Thanks again for the clarification. So, because my H2 is painted Bermuda Blue, does that make it the Ultra Marine Edition or are some H2's that aren't Ultra Marine Editions also painted Bermuda Blue? If mine is one of 750 manufactured that would be cool. I am not a member of LS1Tech.com but will look into it when I have a bit of time. Sounds like fun to built an SS. I will check it out and be back in touch.

In 2009, the limited editions were Silver Ice Metallic and Sedona Metallic (also known as the Black Chrome Limited Edition) In 2007, the limited editions were Glacier Blue Metallic and Victory Red ... In 2006, the limited editions were Fusion Orange and Pacific Blue ... In 2005, the limited edition was the the Victory Red and only available in the SUT .... In 2004, the limited edition was the Victory Red and only available in the SUV ... ... forum members: Did I forget any? |
Interesting. I have been talking to an owner around Denver that has a 2009 Silver Ice Metallic with about 38k miles on it. I have seen pics and it is really pretty. I have been toying with selling my 2008 and getting his 2009. He wants about $64k for it but he installed bucket seats in the second row, Rockstar wheels and tires and a bunch of other items. Still seems pretty pricey to me.

Though not a Silver Ice, I was briefly contemplating a mint, black on Ebony 2009 with 54k miles in Alabama with NAV, air-ride, bluetooth, heated steering wheel and captain chairs for $47k at a dealer. After dealer fees and taxes, it would have been $10k+ more than the Ultra Marine with 40k miles that I ultimately bought. |
I think you did well with the Ultra Marine and now that I have one I am thinking less about getting the Silver Ice one. I really do like the Ultra Marine and I get looks and questions about it wherever I go. It just looks good, and is good!

So far, the only trouble I have had was a slightly split radiator (in the seam between the plastic and aluminum) ... split just enough to have the glycol odor, but not drip. A local dealer wanted $950 to replace it, but after researching I found it to be a common problem so they covered it with a $200 co-payment ... I was happy with that since it is not part of the powertrain warranty. My H2 still has three months of powertrain warranty left. FYI for the future, another issue I had was an "oil substance" all over my driver's side wheel well. I thought for sure it was a split brake hose or caliper leak. My dealer has a "Hummer specialist" and according to him, the front differential breather hose is sized too small. When it heats up, like a trip on the interstate, it will collect in the hose and push out. The fix? He added a larger diameter hose. No problems now. |
Well that's sure interesting about the too small brake hose. Millions spent on R&D and the brake hose is sized wrong. I wonder why some vehicle manufacturers go out of business and others have to be bailed out. I will watch for leaks like that. Now I know how to fix it without spending hundreds at a dealer. Fortunately, the only problem I had was fixing and repainting the hood. That cost about $950. Everything else is fine, as far as I know.
