Is there a particular formula for mileage and year of vehicle, when considering high mileage?
I had always heard that any thing over 50K is considered high mileage, but when you factor in the year of say an older vehicle, then it changes.
I would like to know . . .

Right now I think it's around 15,000 per year is the average. Some say a little higher even, but that's what I base it on. Used to be 12,000. So at 15,000 miles per year this one is under the average by 10,000 miles. You don't just go on the total miles of the car, it's miles and the year it was made. So this one would be considered low miles for the year it was made.

On the other hand my h3 is over double what the average mileage should be. We are just over 150,000 miles. and average for it for a 2007 would be 75,000. We drive the crap out of it. Luckily I will still get to drive it because my wife took it when she moved out, but we are going to share it. lol. Weird.

I shared my (our) dog with my ex-wife for seven months, so I know weird.

Thanks for the mileage lesson

Don't forget that new models generally come out in October. That 07 is now starting on 7 years old, depending on when it was bought. A good indicator of what the average mileage should be is to look at mileage allowances on a new lease. 14k-15k is about standard now. Just remember that mileage norms are regional- a Texan car with city/hwy miles would easily get 20k miles per year. I consider high mileage to be anything over 20k/yr unless I'm buying something that was all city driving.

Yep, I agree with that RSC.

WFturner. It sucks, but I know it's going to be fine. I've got her dog and one cat too that are going to be staying until she finds a place that will allow pets. So I may have them for a long time I imagine. But I really don't mind. They are very well behaved.

We are still friends, just can't be any more than that. I'm still doing all the repairs on the hummer and taking care of it for her. and also driving it whenever I want. I'm really glad about that one. Just changed the oil in it today. Hopefully I'll have my own someday.
