I am seriously considering a 97 H1 truck with soft top. Looking past the obvious abilities and look of this truck are there any significant drawbacks to this model? Recalls etc....Also does anyone know the cost of a hard top for this model? Any comments would be appreciated.

97 through 2000 but mainly 97-98 had an issue with the #8 cylinder cracking. Most problem trucks had the motor replaced in the first 30K miles although some have had the problem out to 60K. I have a 97 with 63K and no issues. 97.5 and up had a better HVAC unit. 97/98 are great years for offroad trucks because they don't have TT4.
