Default Onstar

I am new owner of 2003 h2. It keeps saying phone not available. I don't have on star activated. How do I fix it?

Could be a couple of things. I don't remember for sure but you may have to have the Onstar service to be able to use the phone. Also the early phones in the Onstar system no longer work. There was an update kit that replaced them. It is possible that your H2 has not had the update kit installed. I never did it on either of my H2s.

Astro5169,

Congrats on your 2003 H2! 3hummers is right, in order for the Hands Free Calling option to be available you need an active OnStar subscription and to purchase pre-paid minutes for the vehicle. I'd be happy to assist and answer any questions you have about the system, just send me a PM.

Default onstar

Ok -I called onstar and they said take it to GM. I just want it to stop telling me phone is not connected. Can I just remove the onstar module? I am getting an aftermarket radio installed.

Astro5169,

We are unable to recommend or support any modifications. We would not be able to guarantee the integrity or operation of your OnStar system. I would suggest reaching out to a certified Hummer dealer for more information specific to your vehicle and the modifications you are interested in making. *I hope this helps.

Default gm service tech

I spoke to a gm service tech. I am installing an aftermarket JVC stereo. I was told just to remove the module for onstar. No problems.

i am pretty sure the onstar for the '03 is analogue and you will be hard pressed to find anyone offering new analogue service in the US. So removing the device is your best option if you're keeping the factory chimes, etc...
