Default Online shop for trailer hitch

Hi guys!!

Mag, 24 y.o., swiss expat living in Bahrain - Middle East - where people are useless in car parts...

I need to install a towing hitch on my 2006 H3 and have to order it, as it doesn't exist here...

Can you advise any good online supplier? I found this one but I'd like to know if you have any other address.

Many thanks!!

Cheers

I bought the very same one from that vendor, it's fine. Other good brands include Draw-Tite and Hidden Hitch. Unlike the factory production trailer hitch the receiver part on all of them hangs down below the rear bumper so you will lose some rear departure angle performance off-road. On the other hand, they are much cheaper and easier to install than factory parts. In case you do not know already, even H3's without a factory hitch already have the needed trailer wiring harness tied back behind the top of the rear bumper. That makes installing the desired electrical socket very easy too!

You will also need a US style receiver extension to tow, do some research online to see what they look. In case these parts are not available in Bahrain you may want to order at the same time. If Bahrain uses European style towing standards, I think there are US compatible receiver extensions available to meet that standard too.

If I remember correctly, Suspension Connection charged about $50 on top for shipping costs (within the US). I would recommend emailing any US vendor that you decide to use first to establish if/how much they charge for overseas orders.

If you would like to see a picture of that hitch installed on our truck to get a better idea, I can post it here for you later when my wife is back with our truck.

Thanks a lot for your reply!! I have sent an email to etrailers.com, quite like the Draw-Tite. I have also contacted UPS to know the price and delivery time, we'll see!
Installation isn't a problem, there are about 1000 workshops here, it will cost me around 15$ to have it installed by them - won't even bother to try it myself...
Loosing some rear departure will give me a great excuse to put bigger wheels even if I'll have to get them from Saudi...
With pleasure for the pic, if you don't mind.
Again, many many thanks!!

Hi Mag,

I'm selling mine because I swapped to the OEM hitch and bumper. You can see pictures on the German Hummer forum here:

I'm asking 150 Euro what might be a little high for you. You could have it, but it might be less expensive ordering via the US...

Here's a cellphone picture of the Suspension Connection hitch. It's different from the Draw Tite because it's crossbar is a straight round tube instead of angled square steel. Once mounted, they look pretty much the same hanging below the bumper:

Thumbs up

Thank you guys for your posts. I was on holidays, sorry for the late reply...

I've finally ordered the hitch on suspensionconnection.com, should get it this afternoon. So far, it's a good experience, I've placed the order last Sunday and got a call from Aramex this morning, saying they have it here (in Bahrain). So it took only 1 week to come, that's fast!!
