Oil Change Question

2008 H3X

Changed the oil/filter today in my H3 and drained a little more than 5 qts out (truck on ramps so maybe left some old in back side of pan?) Anyway, put 6 qts in of which added the last 3/4 of a qt after checking stick and looked about 1 qt low. After letting is sit for a while checked stick again and it looks to be about 1/4 qt over fill (above the full mark). Is there an "over fill" limit or such that if you over fill to a limit that will put to much pressure on seals? I am curious before I over react and pull the plug and drain some of it back out?

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance

well I've never had an issue with it being over full that much. I would say a full quart might be pushing it. worst case scenario, drive it down the highway full throttle for an hour straight and that should burn off 1/4

Fill to what Is recomended over fill is not good for oil control pistons rings to much oil makes the rings to not work properly after so many times that u over fill u motor they create some hard oil gunk on the rings and motor will smoke blue (exhaust) it takes more that one over fill for this to happen but if it is my car I just get the oil out to the right amount..good luck

Drain completely. Tilt the vehicle with a jack if needed to get all the old oil out. Add six quarts with a new filter and run it for a bit. Observe where the new oil level is on the dipstick. Scratch a permanent line at that point. That is now your accurate 'full' line. I trust knowing the engine requires 6 quarts before I trust the premade lines on a manufactured dipstick.

I drain on the level,no need for ramps, i never measured how much came out, new filter and 6 qts, it reads a little high.
I dont sweat it, they call for 6 and thats what i use.

I DEFINETLY WOULD NOT DRIVE AT FULL THROTTLE,, ANYWHERE, ANYTIME. ITS NOT A FIX!!

Drained and refilled on level. All is good now. Thanks for the responses.
