Default oil change

Up to 3000 miles on my 2007 H3, with out a doubt the best 4X4 I've ever owned. Can't even classifiy it as a SUV because it really is so much more !!!!!!!!! Question on oil changes...... My ONSTAR report says I have 68% life with the oil and should change at 10,000 miles....what is up with that ??? I have ALWAYS changed oil between 2500 and 3000 miles on everyother car I've owned.

Will post pics soon....doing some add ons.......... I know, I know....[sm=ttiwwp.gif][sm=ttiwwp.gif]

but after I do a roof rack and lights.......

Very old and well discussed topic..do a search on related topic(s)

But to answer your question...

I changed mine at the first 1000 miles then at the 5000 mile mark and just recently at the 10,000 milemark..I will always do every 5,000 here after..I use Castrol Syntec and a factory filter (PF-61)..OIL is cheap insurance.. Never mind that stupid oil reminder gizzmo..that is for stupid people that can't keep track of their oil changes and it is an aweful schedule to follow for the engine..Just reset it each time you change oil and you won't have to worry about the reminders between 7,500 and 10,000 miles...The way it worlks it is taking into consideration the average driver's habits and calulating the life of the oil...However it is a rough gauge..so ignore it...Course this is my opinion and it's free.

Always remember also the more offroading you do the more you need to change your oil.

I agree with Dennis you should change your oil more frequently then what GM recommends. I change mine every 3k w/Mobil 1. Here are some threads you can research:

they want you to change it less frequently so you have to buy a new motor shortly after the warranty is off.

Would you trust Jiffy Lube or other Oil change places? Some of the things I am not sure I want them doing to my H3 are...
-Lube Chassis
-Top off differential fluid
-Top off transmission fluid
-Top off transfer case
-Top off power steering fluid
-Top off radiator overflow
They have mobile 1 and other synthetic oil meant for 4x4 -Synthetic oil topic https://www.hummerforums.com/m_9832/tm.htm

Absolutely Not! My best friend went to Jiffy Lube about 2 months ago and they put his oil plug on so loose that it fell off. They once told me I needed my transmission fluid changed. I was driving a manual transmission at the time. Hell no is my response. I do my own oil changes.

The H2 gets changed every 3000. And the Mustang gets changed once a year around 250 miles.
