I am baffled as to how paint can chip here, and I wonder if anyone else has had this issue. If you open the driver door, on the top left right below the seal/gutter, there are many small rusted paint chips. I don’t understand how this even happens, maybe something with the door seal rubbing when it closes? The seal has shrunk a bit and hangs down in the corner. There is also what looks like some kind of rubber deposits on top. None of the other doors are like this.
I just bought some touch up paint, primer and clear coat as well as a sanding pen from scratcheshappen.com. It’s supposed to be a perfect match for the 2008 solar flare metallic color. I’ll link it if it works well enough. I just don’t know how to prevent this from happening again. Maybe I’ll try and source a seal if I can find one.
