Default Noise at idle

While in park, sounds like groaning noise comming from under hood. When you put hand on steering wheel, or turn steering wheel a little, goes away. No other issues as far as when driving, or steering.2008,bASE THanks

Post up a recording from under the hood and also from inside the passenger compartment if you would. Someones "groan" may be another persons "wheeerrrrrrr" if you catch my drift.

Very simple my dear Watson, It sounds like your power steering fluid is low.

CHECK IT.

Also make sure that the right fluid is in it, may have to use a turkey baster to empty it, then drain from the power steering and refill....................Had that done to my Mercedes, someone filled it with regular PS fluid, the German cars actually take a more expensive oil called Pertusian (may have misspelled this one)

If not low, your PS unit may be going.............

It is fairly common on the H3 Mondo South Korean rack.
If none of the above works it could be some air in the system.
Sometimes removing the filler cap, jack the wheels slightly off the ground, I say slightly because if you increase the angle too much the open reservoir can spill. The slowly turn lock to lock several times. If that does not work it is bypassing some fluid thru some seals but if your steering is responsive...........live with it.
Does it go away after you have driven some?

Power Steering Fluid good. More like a vibration. If you park and sit in vehicle with windows up you hear it. If you grab steering wheel, vibration goes away. No noise driving,no steering problems, Thanks

if what you are describing is a regular vibration at idle, the welcome to the H3, as it is normal for the 5 cylinder engine.

After that last description maybe it's an idler pulley or tensioner and when you touch or turn the wheel the power steering pump puts more load on the belt and the vibration goes away? Could even be the belt.

Dont know, bringing to dealer tomorrow. Seems if you move the steering wheel adjustment to tilt down to second lowest position, it goes away, also holding steering wheel , it goes away also.
