Default Nitto Terra Grapplers MAX HEIGHT - 2009 H3-

Ok ...first of all I am new here, so please be gentle :-) I see a lot of ranting and raving on here. I have searched thru the site looking for an answer to my question...but not having enough knowledge on trucks I am not finding my answer. I currently have 22's on my 2009 H3. I have been given a set of Nitto Terra Grappler 285/65/r22s. I want to have them put on my truck because I want a beefier tire. Can anyone let me know if I can use these? I have read about adjusting the torsion bars to level the front and get a 2 inch lift from it. If I can not use these I would love anyone's input on what would be the beefiest tire I can use with the 22's. I don't care about the MPG or any of that ...I do not drive it long distances any longer and want tires that make it look like a hummer and get rid of the all terrain tires I currently have.

I am also looking for resource for exterior paint , specifically like line-x -bed liner type paint. I am going to have entire exterior painted but need to find where to purchase the paint and how to calculate the amount needed for a 2009 H3

thanks

A 35 inch diameter tire is the generally accepted max size for a H3.

Some say you can run them without cranking the torsion bars.

However, an additional bit of lift will not hurt.

I am running 12.50 x 35 x 17 Goodyear MTR's with just a 2 inch crank on the TB's.

Just some slight rubbing but not enough to be concerned about.

Cannot answer your question directly, as the tire itself may or may not be fine, it depends on what your rim numbers are.

Regardless of tire, the max height for a stock H3 is simply 23.5" from the fender lip to hub center.

Hey Gunner, i ran across a set of 315/75/16 Goodyear MTR's today and I've got a stock H3, can you post some pix of your H3? Will i have any issues going that big?

315/75R16s will fit on any H3 with OEM 16x7.5" wheels without any modifications.
100s of us have that size without any issues except slight rubbing on the sway bar on full lock of the steering wheel.

I have attached some pix of our previous rigs with 315/75R16s:

285/65/22 That's basically 36.5" tire so definitely would need some alterations

Thanks Tainter, I went with the Wrangler MT/R with Kevlar 315/75/16 and I love them, makes it look like a real truck and didn't have to do anything and it didn't scrub at all.
