Well finally took the plunge and ordered new wheels because my stocker tires are dry rotted. Plenty of tread life but cracked to hell.

I went with Method Standard wheels in black with Kumho Road Venture MT's. The wheels are 17x9 with a 4.25" backspace. I wanted the wheels pushed out to look better with my flares. The stock wheels looked horrible sunken in with the extended flares.

Tires are the same size but the new ones were over 2" taller for some odd reason:

I was incredibly worried about the backspace not working but at 4.25" the tires are perfectly in line with the edge of the flares. The wide stance with the MT's gives the rig a completely different look. The pics don't do the Method wheels justice, they are hands down awesome in person!

 

2"s taller and it still fits in the garage! I like the bead lock look, and the military style tread pattern!!
how is the ride compared to the BFG's?

 

Yea, how is the ride? Road noise? Weight?

 

These are the first MT's I've had in a long long time. There is a noticeable chatter at a crawl from the big tread pattern. At 55-60mph there is a very slight drone but nothing major at all. I did read the more they wear the louder they become.


The ride I would say is a little rougher but I have a feeling these suckers are filled to the max. I was so excited to take them for a drive I never checked the pressure....I have a feeling they need some air taken out which should return the ride to similar to stock.


They are definitely much more responsive than the stock BFG's. Any tiny turn of the steering wheel and you can see the truck move.

 

You can see in the pic how TireRack ships them, each "package" weighed anywhere from 117-130 pounds. Some were heavier because one had the lugs inside, one had the gorilla wrench, and one had the center caps. I believe the wheel and tire alone was the 117 pound.


So I checked the pressures tonight, they had these things aired up to 54psi!!!! No wonder the ride was harsh! The tire even says max inflation is 50psi. Either way I took them down to 45psi which I still usually don't run my tires at but we'll see how it rides now.

 

Looks really sweet. I to love the wider looking stance. I went to 315's but right now I have them on the stock rims, but as soon as funds permit I am going to put them on other rims with the proper backspacing to put them back out like my 33's were.

 

I must say I was half tempted to pay the extra money and buy locally but TireRack was great. Shipping was ridiculously fast and they included a collapsible Gorilla wrench, socket, and all the lugs for free. They definitely get an A+ in my book!

LOL I hear ya, I went back and forth between aftermarket and H1 wheels but honestly between the weight of the H1 wheels and tires and possible issues with leaking from the O-rings I figured aftermarket were less hassle.

 

I know I am bringing up an old post, but if the OP is still around, I was wondering what you did with the old tires/rims? Did you sell them to someone, keep them? I am thinking of getting the same tires you posted and was wondering what to do with the old ones as I am sure they have some value to someone.
