new terminal,best way
just found pix. this preserves the factory crimp, none better.(if i had to cut the cable id solder a ring terminal on it to connect to brass, better!)
the old term is flattened and cut so a hole can be drilled for bolt/nut.in this pix it mounts on bottom, absolutly solid.
brass came from napa/? toss the cable clamp, not used. 2nd bolt for accs or dual batt setup.

thats the LAST of my worries! that crimp is tighter than you can get with any of the pretty connectors ive seen.it may be considered gas tight.
probably every car leaving the factories are like that, millions. its the clamp that goes bad.
actually there are thousands of connections crimped like that on all the connectors in any vehicle, none sealed.
