Best bet is a can obdII scan tool.. You can read (active and history) & clear codes. Unless you are into everyday mechanics then buy the snap on modis, around $4k..

Not necessary........., retrieve the code, google the code number, and research the possible cause of the code online, clear the code, is all you really need. You can get a good scan tool on ebay for around $20.00 shipped.
