Default New member - tire question

New member to the forum. Have 2008 Red H3. Close to 100k miles, and second set of tires will probably last the winter. Looking to upgrade to aftermarket rim and larger tire - say 18" rim with 35" tire. I plan to get all-black rim, maybe 5 or 6 spoke. I looked through the FAQs section and saw some mixed info on the 35" tire and its ability to fit onto a H3 without any modifications.
What is biggest tire that will fit H3 without any modifications to suspension system?
thanks.

A 315/75R16 will fit on an H3/H3T without ANY modifications.

You can do the math to go up and down in rims size.

I would powdercoat my exising 16" rims black and call it a day when you are up for tires again. With 100k on the clock, making a huge investment in new wheels isn't such a good idea. You will be much better off putting that money aside for your new transmission that you will need give or take another 30k miles.

My existing H3 has 18" GM accessory wheels and 32" BFG tires. While they provide a good ride on road, they are less than perfect in the rain and I'm afraid that they will $uck when the snow starts to fly this year. I haven't even bothered to try them off-road. Overall, I liked my old H3's factory polished Lux 16" wheels and 33" Duratracs much better as the ultimate set up for on/off road in snow country.

I did not think of the powdercoat option - thanks for the idea. Also, I hope I don't have to replace the transmission in the next 30k miles. Knock on wood, I've had very little issues with my H3 since I bought it new. It is not driven hard, always kept up on maintenance, etc. I'll do some research on this forum related to transmission issues.
