Default New to Hummer

I want to buy a H2 to offroad.
1. Which year is the best?
2. Are they great off road or ok? What will make it superior offroad(mods)?

1. Newer the better..depends on how much you want to spend.

2. They are great. Any addtional mods you do will more than likely make it better.

You will never want another off road vehicle after this purchase..off roading in an H2 is awesome, the look is one of a kind, ONroad level of luxury and comfort inside is not found anywhere else on a 4X4.

remember the basics of 4X4ing and you'll love it...if you don't it will cost you BIG...:-(

the newer the model the more $$$$$$, buy used if you do the research on the targeted vehicle, car fax, avoid the sketchee car lots,,,personal sellers (WO a warranty) and dealer executive units (hummer dealerships W/factory warranty) are the best deals,, I did the Dealer executive unit (fancy talk for free ride for the company big wigs) no smoke, no more than 5000 miles, no offroading, they use them to carry around flyers and advertise the look of Hummer... I saved almost 15000.00 for a 1year old fully warrantied 07 H2 SUT ,Luxury edition, pewter with ebony interior.. 4500 miles on it..

have any used H2 checked out by someone u trust,, the most plentiful parts are for the 6.0L,,,not as much for the 6.2L..(sure that will change as time passes by)

Hope this helps,

Good luck

Matt

I wheel a Lexus GX now. Not a lot of after maket support. I wanted something a ruggit. I live in the Vegas area and keep coming across 2004/ 05 models range from 18 to 25. What is the difference between the two model years?

My '06 (and later years) came with a tire carrier mounted to the bumper. I don't know if '05's have it or not. The '04's would have this as aftermarket only. This carrier frees up interior space and I like the look.

The '08 model and newer has the 6.2 liter vs 6 liter (~70 more horsepower). The '08's also have an updated interior, 6 speed transmission vs the 4 speed.

Having said that, I love my '06 including the older interior style. The off road capability (other than the size) is very good and rivals the best available on the market (Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, Land Rover D-90). They are std with full time 4wd, rear axle lock and electronic traction control devices.

The adventure package has the air suspension and integrated air compressor. The luxery series has upgraded interior (very nice leather!).

Good luck! You will love it!!!

So Im thinking going alone with an 06' model. I like the tire on the rear and the old interior. But, I wouldn't get the 6 speed if its not an 08'?

As an owner of several h2s, the 08s and up are leaps and bounds above any other h2 year, the engine has way more horsepower, the 6 speed transmission is leagues better and the interior is much better including things like air conditioning vents for the 2nd and 3rd row units and better seats. I would never go back to an 03-07 h2 for my h2, the 08s and up are that much better.
