Default New H3 owner needs advice

Just got a new 2008 H3 and need help deciding what upgrades to get for it. I would like to raise it a little, put a bit more pep in the engine and give it a deeper throat sound without wrecking the budget. Also does anyone know of after market fender flares? Any specific products would help. Thanks

First....WELCOME to the site!! By far the best info website for our Hummers!!!!

Secondly.....the questions that you have asked are some of the most talked about upgrades on this Forum. I would highly recommend you try out the search function. Once you get use to it, the information that you can find is unbelievable.

Let me help by providing you with some search keywords for some of the items you are requesting:

* "raise it up a little" - leveling, level, torsion, lift, cognitos
* "more pep in the engine" - exhaust, catback, cold air intake
* "deeper throat sound" - exhaust, catback, magnaflow, borla, corsa
* "after-market fender flares" - fender, flares

I personally went with the Magnaflow catback exhaust and a K&N filter for the engine. I will bedoing anECM re-tune soon. For my suspension I leveled the front end by cranking the torsion bars and then added the extended Bilstein Cognito shocks to the front. I have no interest in changing or adding fender slares, so I can't help you with that one.

Hopefully, you will get some more information from others to help you with your search. Also, you might give us a little more detailed info on your '08 (Alpha?, adventure package?, etc.). It will help when others are providing you with information.

Good luck to you! And again....WELCOME TO HUMMERFORUMS.COM!!!

You could always upgrade to DOCOLDS AirIntake, I'm installing mine next weekend.

Sheriff has all the right ideas IMO. The only problem for you right now with an 08 is that the aftermarket manufacturers have not yet started offering
the goods for many of the usual mods. There is no high flow air filter and no intakes, yet.

You can get aCAT back from several makers, but some do not show a 2008 part # yet.

Enjoy your new truck and the forums. Welcome.

Welcome to the forum! I've been helped enormously with my Hummer projects by the members here...you will be too!

Just and FYI on the cat backs for an 08...I used a magnaflow for mine that was for an 07 and they said it would fit an 08 and for the most part it did, but there was one exhaust hanger that didn't line up...a bit of modification on it made it workable but I would wait until they have one specifically for the 08 before I'd buy it.

Doc Intake is awesome! I put one on about a week ago andcut the muffler off and put a straight pipe out the back, heck of a difference in MPG and take off. If you live inthe city or go into parking garages often, be wary of putting a roof rack or roof lightbar up there Trust me on that one.
PCM tune is in the near future.

Forgot the ones everybody does until you need them, WIPERS, I got the Michelin Symphony Blades. You may also want to consider changing out the headlights. HID are alot better than the OEM's but there are cheaper alternatives also; Silverstars or you can use the forums to get your help http://www.auctiva.com/stores/viewst...amp;styleid=69

Good luck!

Ilike all of the recommendations except the "deep throaty sound". Unless you're blessed with a Alpha V-8, your I-5 will always sound like a piece of Farm Machinery no matter what you do to it. That's why I keep mine quiet, I don't want the CJ-5 to laugh at it [sm=insomnia.gif]

Magnaflow has an exhaust system for the Alpha. Not sure on the 08 I5.
