Default New H1's

Does anyone know, or think they will ever bring back the H1?

If you believe that one of the reasons they cut production and shifted the jobs to military production... then you have to believe that we will see new ones again.... They reportedly only sold 374 of them in 06 which was down something like 74 units..... so you could also agrue that you won't see them again....

I thought maybe they had stopped because of military production, but I didn't realize they only sold 374 in 06. Not hard to understand why at $125K.

GM bought the name to market the 2's and 3's, marketed the h1 to the wrong crowd, then priced them into extinction. When they first were released to the public they were pretty stripped down and basic, priced between $40k and $50k. So they've always been fairly expensive but not insane like the latter years. Now only a rare dealer cares to (or, more likely, can) work on them.

here are some production numbers (from flashoffroad and lynch's site) -- there were only about 10,900 civi trucks (including commercial/industrial uses) from '92 to '03. '04 was a small production year with 246 Optimizer trucks built. There were 691 Alpha's built -- they all eventually sold by early '07. So, 11,837 total hummers (h1's). Alot less than most think.

I'm pretty sure this is an accurate source:

HUMMER H1 Model Year Production Numbers. Model Year Civilian H1 Hummers Produced. 1992 316 1993 612 1994 718 1995 1432 1996 1374 1997 1209 1998 945 1999 831 2000 1333 2001 869 2002 704 2003 494 (Including 116 built for Border Patrol) 2004 252 2005 0 2006 729 (including 9 Border Patrol) Total 11,818

Besides 05 when they made 0, 04s are the most rare hummers. If im not mistaken, they also go the alpha interiors of the 06 cars and a much better turbo motor than the 03 and older H1s. Please correct me if im spreading inaccurate info!

the numbers are slightly different depending where you get them, but yes -- the '04 has the new interior and it was the lowest number producion year. If you are looking for a really rare truck, there were only 39 (me thinks) slantbacks made in 2000, and some years they made only one or two 2 drs. I'd hate to wheel one of those and screw it up.

here are two great sites for hummer info:

http://www.flashoffroad.com/features/Trivia/trivia.htm

I remember the 30 min infomurcials of the early 90's. As a kid I loved watching it and seeing the insane offroad capabillities. 1 thing rally stuck out to me, a red H1 driving over a series of 2 foot dia logs. At the end the truck came down on the log on the passenger side, just under the door. Smashed it up pretty good, but it didn't bother the H1 at all. I remember thinking some other vehicle might complete that course, but if it had you wouldn't be able to open the doors.

You have to remember those vehicles in that video are more than likely stock, off the show room floor... i dont think there is any other stock vehicle that could do that course... sure a highly modded one might but couldit do it with a 1 1/4 ton payload... or could it even hold that.
