ORIGINAL: Patrick

for the sports forum, how about a subsection in OT?

I will create an H3T section right now, and I agree that the H4 section should be something like H4 and concepts.
Personally MY feelings are this....

OT should be moved down to other...

Sports should stand alone under other....

But like my Grandma used to say Beggers can't be choosers"

And if you made the H3T forum I cannot see it...

Renaming the H4 forum to just "Hummer Concepts" would work.... and in the description you could put some yada yada yada about... read about the H4/HX and whatever else hummer has up their sleeve...

At some of my forums, we have moved OT down the site, and it often kills the activity in that section. While I understand that this is a hummer forum and not an off topic forum, i like having something that will get someones attention who may not come here to spend alot of time on tech stuff.

im not a fan of change, but i do enjoy organization. the easier it is to find things on the forum, the better it makes it for the members...and with something as simple as adding a new section, you might pick up forum activity, and if it doesnt "work", it can be taken down easily.

but when someone posts a question in the intake forum and after 3 days with no replies posts the same question in the h3 room and gets 20 replies within hours...obviously the specialized part rooms ain't working.

Like I said...make all posts related to a vehicle in that vehicles room....then after the thread dies have mods move them into the specialized rooms....but make the specialized rooms read only archives. best of both worlds...members can find specific info easier and those that are here to help others don't have to be bothered with going to 25 different friggen rooms every day...it sucks and takes time I and others don't have.

while its easier now, it prevents growing pains in the future. as the site grows, people will begin to complain that it is too hard to find things, and that they should be organized into groups of posts.

at MF, we had to organize the tech sections into sub sections, and it took forever, but now they are heavily used.

it just occured to me that you and i are talking about two different things...

you mean the sections in "brand reviews", dont you? i think that those sections are dumb, and I dont know why they are there. at most of the bigger sites, they are still there because there is just too much content to dump into the given sections.

if someone is willing to move the posts in the brand reviews section, we could do away with those sections, so members would only post questions in the model specific area...but do we really want to get rid of ALL of them? or, do we want to leave them where they are and make a sticky in those sections directing people to model specific sections?

I say no to getting rid of them.... and yes to making them smaller...

Intake, exhaust, blowers, turbos, fuel, pcm... same forum...

Suspension, tires... same forum....

Interior, audio, detailing.... same forum...

I haven't been on that many forums. What works on the other forums everyone goes to? What promotes the most activity?

we wouldn't be getting rid of any of them...just making them information archives...does no one read my posts?!?! Keep them there...but make them read only. All new topics/discussions would be in the vehicle specific forum. That would solve every problem we have.
