Default Need your suggestions as buying H3...

Hi all Gurus,

I am planning to buy used H3 and to join your family.
I've various options in my budget, but I am interested in few of them.

Below is the list:

1. 2007 H3, Luxury Edition, 3.7L I5, 112k mileages, 1 previous owner, 12 service records. (Cheapest among all, I don't know why...? )

2. 2006 H3, 3.5L I5, 107k mileages, 3 previous owners, 19 service records.

3. 2006 H3, 3.5L I5, 86k mileages, 2 previous owners, 3 service records. (Slightly over the budget)

- Service records are as per carfax.

I am more interested in 1st one. (Still need your opinions)
I am going to take test drive all of them.

Highly appreciate if you have any suggestions.

Which one you recommend as per your knowledge and experience...?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not a guru, far from it. But, if your choice is an 06 or 07, I'd prefer the 07 as the door/window control relocation is a huge difference, which is a mid year production change.

Plus, you get little more engine in the 2007 (3.7L vs 3.5L)

Just sayin, GED10

I imagine that more of the 07's have the controls in the original location than the later location. The engine size is important, but up to you to decide what you want to do with the vehicle. Are you looking at all highway miles with 35's or do you plan to do a daily commute with it? Is it a (mostly) dedicated offroad toy? How far to you plan to go with mods and tuning? The 08's are a little more flexible in tuning options, but the 06's can have the cat's gutted and not throw a code. Do you just want a good looking ride or do you want an offroad machine? If you want offroad performance then hold out for an 08 or better Adventure series. If you want to hack it up into a SAS front and SOA rear, lifted and on 37's then you might want to hold off for a V8 Adventure that you can regear. Do you just want to go to the mall on Friday nights? Go for the H3 Lux in whichever year. Really, the decision on which one to get depends on what you want to do with it.

As rsc stated your needs. I had the 07 with the 3.7 great ride. However I needed more power so now I have the 08 Alpha with the 5.3 so again up to you but if you have no need for the V-8 go with the 07.

Among those, I'd take the '07 for the slight engine upgrade.

Default go with 07

My 07 is great. Fuel economy is the only downside to Hummer ownership. Other than that you are king of the road with the coolest looking ride on the PLANET

Thank you all for your inputs.

I am kinda looking for all. Mixture of off-road, highway miles and city noise.

Hopefully tomorrow will be D day.

Any suggestions for what to check when buying H3 with 110+ mileages on it?

Thanking you again.

Cheers...

Just check service records if you can. Of coarse drive down the highway for 20 miles at least and get a feel for her. Check gages. But most important price. Over 100k you should not pay more than 14k

Check to see if any of the three has had the head replacement done already. I'd avoid either of the '06's if they haven't had it done.

I have heard about the heads also in the 06, stick to an 07. Plenty around for cheap with high miles. I have seen a nice one for 10999. with 120k. rebuilt title but who cares for that price. I bought mine for 24k H3X with factiory warranty and only 32k.in january 10. had some wind noise in the windshield and the dealer replaced the seal for free.
