Hi guys, I'm new to this forum. I'm seeking a H3 despite GM is gonna sell or discontinue the Hummers. Hummers are really cool!

There are two H3s I can find in my area.

07 H3 base model with nav, chrome apperance, sunroof, towing and lux package. There are some minor problems, which I belive can be fixed with 500- bucks. The milage is 15k-. I think I can get it for about 22k + tax.

08 H3 Alpha with almost everything: nav, backup camera, towing package, improved exterior, sunroof, even a metal spare wheel cover. The mileage is less than 1k (right, 1k not 10k). It's a dealer car and they are asking for 33500 + TTL and dealer fee.

Both are same colro and still under GM warranty. Both have the same stepping board and roof rack.

Also, I can go to local Hummer dealer and get a brand new 09 H3 base model with barely no installed options, except auto trans for $30k OTD.

I've read the thread about how much ppl pay for their new H3. The prices I got here seem not so attracting.

Could you guys provide some advice? Which one is the best deal?

 

I was going to go used but with all the incentives i decided on new.

 

The 07 - for $22k, there shouldn't be ANY problems. Let the dealer fix those and offer them less.
The 08 - doesn't sound bad either. Low miles, lots of warranty, probably a demo. I was looking at a demo too when I was shopping, they sold it before I made up my mind!
The 09 - may be your best bet if you can afford the it. I've heard the incentives are unbelievable!

I would say new too, with all the different things they changed on the H3 from 2006 to the 2009 they upgraded diff to cast iron and lockers front & back, they seem to have worked alot of the bugs out. Also depends on what your going to use it for... Daily driver or wheeling or both... I think I would go new with all the incentives and warranty.

 

08 Luxury packages lightly used (10k or less miles) are going for between $23,500 and $25,000 in my area (west coast).

Even with all the 09 incentives you will take a depreciation bath if you buy new. It wil take you years of payments before you are above water on your loan unless you put a lot of money down. My advice is don't be in a hurry (hard when you have the bug) and keep your eye out for a solid '07 or '08 low mile used. With all the uncertainty out there I think the wholesale market is really low and dealers (non-Hummer in particular) are picking them up really cheap for resale which means you can get them rather cheap. The '07 deal you mentioned seems steep. Are you trading anything in? That can have a big impact on your pricing if you are underwater on something else.

If you go look on NADA.com or KBB.com and price out that 2008 Alpha, its probably got a retail value of about $28.5k maybe $29k and trade-in value is probably $24 or 25k, so if you bought it for $33.5k and had to trade it in a year or so you will be way underwater.

A few people on these boards have posted that they got '08 Alpha's for $25k to $26k. Those are most likely somewhat rare but for that price you could have it shipped to you across the country and still be thousands of dollars better off than paying $33.5k from you local dealer. You need to be careful in this market. Good luck.
