Default Need Some Engine Advice

Hey guys,
I am new to the forum from the great state of JawJa. I have owned a few H1's in the past but recently bought a 97 H1 two door truck. I got a a great buy on it but have the dreaded #8 cylinder problem. My question is in your honest opinion what would be the cheapest but most effective way to get back on the road. I would love to do a cummings conversion but don't have the funds yet. New block? Sleeved cylinder? I guess I just want to hear what trials and tribulations y'all have experienced before I try to learn them all the hard way.
Thanks in advance,
G

Million answers for a question like this.
But CHEAPEST IMO Would be to find a used 6.5 van /bus motor and and get re and re...
Personally I'd get a good rebuilt long block, so ya know your base is solid.
Orrrr even better (if you stick with the 6.5) the P400 6.5L block with upgraded turbo, good power there ,I forget off hand but think almost 300?
Sorry have no clue on sleeving,

How about rebuilt/refurbished USGI motors? Does anyone have any experience with these?

I bought a 10000 mile heavy block take out motor from one of the conversion shops. Got the motor, tranny and Tcase for $2500.00.

Man that is a cool truck!

Cummins engines can be found quite cheaply, so I wouldn't give up on the dream.

My 1993 has a cummins and I love it!

Cheers
