Need an off road Toy help?
Ok the whole Hummer thing has cause me to get an off road bug. I naturally do not want to take the Hummer because it was kind of expensive as we all know. So what would be a good vehicle for around 10k? I have been looking at Land Rover Discovery 2`s and they seem to be cheap. There is one with 50k miles 02' for $10k. I thought man these are very nice cars why so cheap. Then I start reading peoples reviews on Land Rover products in general and it seems like the upkeep is ungodly when it comes to maintenance. I really like them though because they still are slightly luxury but with good off road capabilities. Does anyone else have a make model year recommendation for something I can do some off roading in & camping yet still go to the grocery store if I need to.
i would say pretty much anything but a few feature to look for would be locking diffs a low crawl ratio fairly good ground clearance i think a short wheelbase would be better in the mountains and also good approach and departcher angles .

There are a few good choices here....first off I would look for a k5 blazer, jeep Wrangler (won't get a rubi in the price range you are looking for)or an early Bronco...some of the best all around wheeling machines ever made. They all have a huge aftermarket to make them into whatever you want. If you looking for a strictly off road machine then stay away fom ANYTHING with IFS...go for a straight axle or go home.
