my 2003 Hummer H2 is acting weird with the electrics. The dashboard bulbs stop working for a few days then start again and this cycle goes on. A few nights ago the dashboard went completely dark, even the dials not working so I don't know how much gas is in the tank.Even when I start the car nothing shows on the dash. Ihave checked the fuses and cannot find any broken fue. Has anyone any idea what could be wrong?

 

Being that you have power to start the motor rules out any sort of main power issue. Since its only the instrument panel (IP) that is malfunctioning and no other systems, then I would suspect a faulty connection somewhere in the IP. I would start by removing the IP and look at the circuit board and look for any unusual burn marks that might indicate some kind of intermittent short. Removal of the IP is very easy, watch the video tutorial below.


Also, when you say you checked the fuses, did you just visually look at them or did you actually place each one onto a meter and check for continuity??

 

ive read that instrument panel is a common problem with our h2's, if you look on ebay theres a place that sells new and refurbished ones, if you decide you need to replace it
