need help, urgently
Hi all,
sorry if this is the wrong forum but had no return from the 'tires' forum, and since i'll need th info before this friday, I thought it'd have more exposure here... so here's a copy of my other post. (if this is against forum rules, mods feel free to delete).

Hi all,
I will be moving from the stock 265s to 285/75/16 in a few weeks, but I'd like to only change 4 tires and keep the spare stock. I'd like to keep the spare for different reasons, one being $$$ (!!!) the other being that I'd like to keep my spare tire cover which I assume will not fit the 285s.
Do you guys think it could be a problem if for example, I had a flat tire and had to run to the shop with three 285s and one 265 for a few miles for a tire change?
thanks all for your help,
cheers,
JAM.

You can't run different tire sizes. They must all be 265 or 285. It's cheaper to get a new tire cover rather than screw up your tranny and 4wd.
Nice to see some schmuck has enough time on his hands to post such a classy "response". Hopefully the administrators can block this schmuck.

Re:the schmuck... what can you do... WAY to much time on his/her hands. Has posted all over the forum in less than an hour. He or she would be better going out to the gym, work, clean the house, save $ to buy a Hummer, ****, whatever...
How about those little "Donut" spares. Aren't they smaller? Good for about 50 miles.
Bob
Due to the 4wd system of the H3 - full time 4wd - you cannot run tires of ANY size difference. No donut tires or even a spare that is one size smaller/larger whatever.
Doc or any of the other guys on here with a lot more technical knowledge than I can explain better. It'll screw up the full time 4wd system.
Point is you cannot run - even for a short distance - a tire that is a different size than the others.
As far as the schmuck he/she/it is gone and doesn't deserve any more "attention".
