A dab of gorilla glue, but the friction fit may have been enough. There is actually a hole in the ball that the shaft slides into.

You can cut down the lenght of the antenna. It would only affect yourreception quality as you are no longer above the roof line.Ever notice that all whip antennas are above the roof line? There is a reason. AM needs height, and Fm uses the surface of the roof to help reflect the signal to the antenna.
The shorter the lenght, essentially, the sooner you will loose your station as you drive away from the transmitting tower. AM will suffer the most.
If you want to eliminate the whip altogether I would suggeest getting an on glass amplified antenna. It mounts on the inside of the vehicle .

What year is your H2? On my 05 the antenna hit the garage entrance but on my new one it does not. Maybe it's worth a call to the dealer to find out if you want to keep the oem look.

AntennaX.com
is pleased to become a supporting vendor for HummerForums.com.
You may have bought from us in the past on ebay or thru our website. We have been in business since 2001 and offer a full line of replacement antennas for Hummer H2’s & H3’s.
. In addition to Hummers, we have antennas for most cars, trucks, SUV’s & Motorcycles. Our goal is to provide the auto enthusiast a stylish, inexpensive yet functional alternative to those ugly Factory Antennas that most Cars & Trucks come standard with today.
. Regarding Hummer H2’s & H3’s, we manufacture the correct antenna adapter that can’t be bought in any store.
My number one selling antenna for Hummer H2’s & H3’s right now is the AX-15b, the 14 inch Black Billet Antenna.
. Same reception as stock, except 17 inches shorter. This antenna fits the 2004 thru 2008 H2 and the 2006 thru 2008 H3.
The price on my website for this antenna is $13.99 plus shipping.
