Mike, I was a part in the restoration effort of my mother in laws -75 Stingray and I've also restored a -66 Mustang GT... I'm guessing some of those frame pieces are available as replacement parts ready to weld in, I know I had enough available (and used) on the Mustang. Check out National Parts Depot, they usually have everything you can think of and then some. Another good resource is Year One.

As far as the body work goes .. the only thing I'll say is it's a red royal pain in the butt and I'll NEVER do it again! LOL! Not sure how that vehicle comes apart but when I had mine done everything but the front quarters, glass, and doors remained on the frame, body wise at least. It was obviously completely gutted inside and out but that's besides the point.

If you have the time, the money, passion and knowledge to sink in to it, I'd say go for it. If you don't it will more than likely end up just taking up space in your garage like mine did when I was close to getting it finished. I had a rolling vehicle you could've drove away if I had a steering wheel in it when I sold it .. sucked to see it go but had to because of the newhouse and I didn't want to trash one more garage with paint and chemicals ... It's great fun though ... if it wasn't for my fricken back being as mucked up as it is I would love to take on a Ford F100 but it ain't gunna happen ...

I say go for it Sugar! It would make a great "practice" restoration vehicle for you. Heck it's free (if he is going to junk it) correct? Get good on this one and then sell it (or race it) and then go for a more classic muscle car later on...

Why sugar? LOL..I think every man needs a good hobby/activity to spend time on (as long as he isn't spending the family into the poorhouse on it and is spending an adequate amount of time pleasing the little missus! LOL)

I agree with LawWyfe. It's awesome to be able to take a car like that and restore it. Not only is it georgous when it's done, but the pride and satisfaction of a job well done is so rewarding. They just don't make cars like that anymore and when one is redone with tender loving care, it's such a wonderful thing to see. I always go to the car shows, but I usually take a box of tissues because of the constant drooling....hahahhahahha....
