Default my new h2 in winter

so I finally found and bought my h2, 2003 with 55k on it for 19700, its black and beautifull. Now after washing and waxing multiple times winter is approaching and the thought of the salt and chemicals spread all over the streets all winter here in erie pa is making me crazy, thinking of how its going to rust my h2.....so was wondering if im nuts to think of putting it up for winters, have a chance to buy a cheap envoy and make it my winter ride...am I nuts????

Quite a few people around the forums don't use their H2 as their daily driver and garage it for the winters. My 2 is my DD and I love driving that damn thing every day!! However in AZ we obviously don't deal with the winters and salt on the roads so I agree.

My wife's family moved to AZ from OH and when their vehicles were trucked in they had me look them all over. I couldn't believe how every piece of metal was either rusted or showed some signs of deterioration in the finish!

Mine is my DD and I would ask why you would purchase a 4WD vehicle NOT to drive it in the winter? Here in CO I regularly rinse off my deuce including a bottom blast and have not had a problem. Never had any vehicle rust...

in response to man1in boat, ive driven 4x4 in winters here all my life washing at car washes constantly, having the underneath coated with various oil coatings like fluidfilm,lps3, and krown and every one of them have rusted thoroughly, whatever is in use on the roads here will win over any and all care, that's why I was pondering doing it to my h2, I love driving it every day as well but just don't want to ruin it for those 3 or 4 months here. whatever melts the snow and ice off roads when its 3 degrees out is something more than salt so its just a loosing battle

Man1nboat....I live in Nebraska..close to CO. When you say bottom blast...do you mean one of those car washes that shoots up a rinse from the bottom? How often do you do it. After every snow fall is melted off, or just a few times a winter. Thanks -Kirk

@Kirk - Exactly though sometimes I go to the pay booth and concentrate on the brakes more thoroughly. You by Cabelas? @yoymon - I didn't mean anything bad by my post. Just my experience. Luv the deuce in the snow (sun, rain, clear days too). Not wind though

Well now I'm back I've got the biggest tires I can get on my hummer but I choose to set it in the garage .. Nice to go to the garage to insert a CD into the stereo open a beer and fix My hummer next year I'm going in with a new LSX 376 B15 with a compressor and a new gearbox ... I have a completely rust free hummer and I want to keep it that ...
