Default My Introduction - Hello to All

My wife made the comment to me last night that it is rude to just enter a message board and not introduce yourself (being a multiple message-board junkie she is). I guess I never really thought of it.

Anyway, (a little late) My name is Mike. I live in the suburbs of Chicago, but work in the heart of downtown for a lawfirm as a senior I.T. technician, a.k.a. "the computer guy." I'm 30, have been married for a little over a year, and love cars, video games, the outdoors, and my wife (ok and my job). I worked my way up from being poor as a kid to working my butt off to have what I have. I don't take anything for granted, value my friends, and always am willing to help people.

My past cars have been (in order):

'87 Nissan Sentra
'89 Suzuki Swift GTi
'98 Suzuki Esteem
'99 Suzuki Esteem
'95 Camaro 5-Speed V6 (yes I modded it to the point of engine failure)
'98 Toyota 4-Runner SR5
'98 Isuzu Rodeo LS
'03 VW Beetle Turbo
'05 Scion xB (which I do regret getting rid of. Talk about a black hole of upgrades and $$)

and now my '06 H3

Oh and I can't forget, My '93 Honda CBR 600 F2 and My 2006 Yamaha Virago (which I sold to buy a house, DOH!)

I know this is probably WAY too much info and most people don't care, but I just wanted to show that I am a car nut and have learned quite a few things over the years. I still have yet to take apart and rebuild an engine, but I have gotten very close.

I went to DeVry for 3 years for Electronics Engineering, then switched majors over, and over, and over again and finally went with Business Management. I love modding my cars and doing unique things that nobody else does, so I'm a geek when it comes to that.

So, I'm not trying to brag, make myself look good, or anything like that, but since I post so many messages, I figure people might wanna know "who is this goofball?"

Now hopefully my wife will stop telling me what a bad person I am for being rude jk.

Hey...Hey...there are ladies present here, you know

I never did a "real" intro, either.

My name is Mary Ellen....I'm a young 42, married 23 yrs, 2 kids and 1 grandaughter(that's right...a Hummer driving grandma). I'm a nurse and we own an auto parts store , so I get to buy cool stuff for my Hummer and Mustang at wholesale[sm=wootwoot.gif]. My husband works hard 7 days a week, so I get really annoyed when people make comments about us driving a Hummer. I live on a horse farm and raise and show Tennessee Walking horses. I ride everyday and love it! I'm also into photography in my spare time and help rescue abused/neglected horses

I actually got 2500 for my F2 with 21k miles on it. That was with a modified body that I personally did. I converted it to an open-ferring design. ;-)

Welcome Mary, and thanks for the compliment!

if i wasn so busy working 14 hour days, being a band manager, and a husband, I would do more to promote the Hummer vehicles with people like this that actually make a difference.

Those ignorant morons that disrespectfully express their dislikes of our vehicles can go to hell. As your husband does, I work my butt off to get what I have, and you guys have convinced me that yes, I have nothing to regret. Those same people are the ones driving the luxury sedans and sports cars that get the same kind of mileage we do, and I don't see them doing anything positive for the world other then bitching about Hummer owners.

They should spend that energy volunteering to clean up a park, or help kids, be a mentor, etc, and instead they waste their time putting up web sites that wine and complain about Hummer owners. If they cared so much about the environment, why don't use their energy educating people instead of using false accusations and lies to talk about things they aren't educated on. I respect everybody's opinions, and if people don't like us, or we create some kind of automobile minority, then fine, but there are right and wrong ways to express that. Get an education, volunteer your time to help others, and show some respect, and then maybe people will listen to you, but to me those people (and kids) are just a reflection of how they were raised and their parents.

I could go on and on, but I'm glad to hear you rescue animals. We bought our H3 to go on road trips and off-roading. We went on a countrywide 5400 mile road trip last summer, and ironically, when we were in a hotel room in Vegas, we saw the H3 for the first time on Tv, and said "This is the car we should be driving" When we actually drove out of the dealer with one, out of all the cars I have had, that was one of the mose satisfying moments of my life where I said "Wow, I really made something of myself didn't I?"

One of the reasons I'm starting to really think about modding my H3 is because I want to get peoples attention and THEN educate them on this thing. I know it may not make a difference, but all it takes is one person.

Anyway, HELLO TO ALL

How did you like the scion? They look great with upgrades, even though you got rid of it, do you have any pics to post here?
toyota ofers a lot of exterior options for the scions and a lot of them are on the road.
