Yes,, I have thought abot doing that but not sure yet if I wana do it.

Yes,,, I was worried about that myself, so before I ran into any trouble I swaped out the step for one excactly like the one in the pictures "only not as wide" the step in the picts was 32" wide,,, the new step I replaced it with is 24" wide, so it no longer cover's my lic plate area.
